Cool, so the creator of the meme is mad that liberals are choosing people who are actually doing something rather than those who are saying, “Just be patient, we need more bodies!”
The fascists will either be long gone or will have solidified their power by the time there’s “more people.” There’s no more time left to wait for some romantic revolution.
We don’t have enough people or a well enough organized proletariat. We need you and people like you to get involved before it is possible. A revolution must be popular, it must be rooted in the will of the working class not a small and insignificant minority that most people haven’t had any real interaction with. We can’t just do a revolution spontaneously either, there needs to be a revolutionary moment created by a significant crisis within capitalism that just isn’t there yet for the imperial core. Trying to start a revolution rn would be an exercise in futility.
This is why we agitate for revolution. This is why we point out the flaws in reformism. It is to get enough people on our side for revolution to be possible. Asking why we haven’t revolted already misses the entire point.
So given that revolution is not currently possible, then maybe voting for the dem soc candidate is the right thing to do with what little power we have?
As long as you are also taking other actions to further the goal of revolution. I am not the type to take issue with electoralism if electoralism isn’t what you spend all of your energy on. I would also encourage you to keep your expectations (but not your demands) for these candidates low as to avoid falling into doomerism.
Its only “not possible” because those who dont want to face the terrifying reality of the situation continue to retreat to reformist tendencies that don’t work and got us here in the first place. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy that can become untrue the instant you guys decide to get real.
“Hurr durr why doesn’t someone just make a nuclear reactor. What’s stopping them? I see lots of talk and blueprints about making this nuclear reactor but no one seems to want to be the brave one to just do it. What’s that about? Why do people need to plan things and get other people on board for things?”
Then start the revolution. What’s stopping you? I see lots of talk of a revolution, but nobody seems to want to be the brave one to die for it.
Needs more people.
Also, some of us aren’t from the US.
