I just use Revanced on mobile, or smartube on my tv
Did you try Firefox (Nightly) + uBlock Origin + Sponsor Block?
Even nightly doesn’t seem to be necessary; I’ve used those for years without issue
There were some issues with uBO last week, likely due to A/B testning on Youtube’s part. It only lasted a couple of days though.

YouTube is like ICE. Gradually increasing abuses so people don’t revolt.
yt is going the way of facebook with the slop everywhere. most of the suggestions are slop. good videos still play as usual for now. get a few pauses in place of the ads. no big deal

Twitch injects the ads into the stream, so any adblock will just see the stream coming from the same address and can’t tell if it’s the actual stream or ads.
