      Thanks! The Japanese characters refer to the version of the meme that pairs the woman and cat with the sign that could be read as SALE SALE or SASA LELE. The hiragana characters on the image with the woman say “seru seru” and the ones on the cat side say “sasa rere” which is my best stab at recreating the phonetics

      In katakana it says:

      セルセル on the left (seruseru) ササレレ on the right (sasarere)

      but I don’t know what that means. Maybe onomatopoeia for something? (A lot of Japanese onomatopoeia has that kind of repetition – e.g. guruguru for something spinning in circles or pikapika for something sparkling – but I don’t recognize this.)
