I had a chef tell me this, that mint is the most human adapted of all the herbs. You can find it in cigarettes, in perfumes, in salads, toothpaste, jelly, ointments, etc etc. I never stopped to think about it, and then quite badly wanted a mint cigarette.
Mint is easy to care for and repels some pests but spreads very aggressively. Plant it in some box or container you are okay with being taken over.
Probably also worth knowing that spearmint and peppermint are different flavors that come from different varieties. Not everybody likes both
So a low maintenance garden I can eat? I’m not seeing a downside.
And cut off any flowers before they bloom, otherwise even if in a box it’ll spread.

Do not wash sensitive areas with mint anything. Trust me, that’s a kind of fresh you do not want.
