Full disclosure, I’ve followed her career from all the way back in her UFC and American Gladiators days. I don’t think she should have been fired for her words, let alone those words, but I’m curious, who was she calling the nazis in this scenario and what are those political views being so oppressed? Because it feels like there might be more nuance to the story that’s being ignored.
Some of the extra nuance is that she routinely would dip her toes in the ‘far right’ hate cess pool. Disney, being Disney, asked her to dial it back. After enough incidents they cut bait. She was a bit character on a show that had some heat and refused to just not cry about courting Nazis.
Like you gotta know that Star Wars on Disney is going to be focused on kids. And if you’re running around pushing conspiracy theories about Jews, you can’t be too shocked when they shut it down.
criticized for social media posts that mocked mask wearing during the pandemic and alleged voter fraud during the 2020 presidential election. She also mocked the use of gender pronouns, listing “beep/bop/boop” in her social media bio.
She was making the “people on the right should have free speech” argument, with the most historically inappropriate analogy possible.
My dude, this was about vaccines and masking and shit. She was literally over there comparing the attempted extermination of multiple groups of people by literal Nazis to taking a quick shot and wearing a 4-in square of fabric on her face.
A public figure trivializing the fucking Holocaust is certainly cause for not renewing a contract.
Yeah, that’s been spot on my same take on the situation. I think she should be allowed to have whatever views she wants, regardless of how strongly I disagree with them. That being said, her censorship is more a result of unchecked capitalism than anything else. Disney’s only care in the situation is if someone said something to pisse off the people that give them money. Nothing more, nothing less.

She was about to get her own spin-off show too. What a fuck up.
Walt Disney is rolling around in his grave, or freezer or whatever.
Disney studios was kind of notorious for putting children through the ringer to make shows.
eh, Walt was rather antisemitic.
