Euromaidan was western-backed, involved the Maidan Massacre, which seems to have been a false flag based on investigation, and was supoorted largely by the far-right. The reason Yanukovych went with the Russian loan, and not the IMF loan, was because the IMF loan came with stipulations like requiring austerity politics, shrinking social safety nets, and more, while the Russian loan did not. Then, he was coup’d.
Among the west, since the war is so heavily supported in the media, you really won’t see much on this post-2022, but pre-2022 the post-2014 Ukraine regime’s gangsterism was reported on pretty heavily by outlets like the New York Times, even. It’s only during the present war stage that this has really almost disappeared from western memory.
The US, EU, etc. had supported Banderite groups, of which there are a large number. The newly installed government, under Poroshenko, included Right Sector and Svoboda (far-right groups). Poroshenko began cozying up to the west, instated “decommunization,” and suppressed the Russian language.
