However, a report from the Hollywood Reporter revealed that the leak didn’t come from within Paramount but from a hacker from PeggleCrew—the same troupe behind an infamous 2016 cyberattack on the hosting website FossHub.

I’m guessing the crime is how they got the movie.

According to the publication, police discovered that the leaker gained unauthorized remote access to the server on which the animated film was stored, leading him to allegedly download and upload clips of the film online.

This happened in Singapore I guess, but assuming they have similar laws to the US then this would be unlawful access of a computer system.

Oh, man, those are both FANTASTIC, I’m really glad you got to play them. Control introduced me to the entire “weird fiction” genre and now I’m hooked. And Titanfall 2 is just a masterpiece of storytelling and game design. Just as you think you’re getting bored with a mechanic they throw in something new.

It really depends on how it was originally encded to x264 and what your goals for transcoding are in the first place (save space, playback compatibility, etc etc). there’s a pretty good little post on stackexchange that goes into more detail about the ffmpeg flags.

Yup, coffee lake is when intel quick sync gained HEVC 10-bit. I had a 6th gen in my server for a while and that one needed h.264 content.

hardware doesn’t even need to be that recent! i’m using an i7 8700K for my plex server and it can transcode h.264 into h.265 on the fly.

I’ve noticed that things recorded on film hold up much better to low resolution compared to digitally filmed content.

The biggest issue with downloading x265 stuff from the high seas is that so many of them are just x264 that’s been re-encoded in x265, resulting in smaller file sizes but reduced quality as well. x265 is superior in almost every way technically speaking but it needs a good source material, not an x264 reencode. Their “golden rule” is more like a rule of thumb and I absolutely wouldn’t use some blanket criteria like resolution or dynamic range.
