Already running ublock on everything I touch. It’s so weird when I go on someone else’s computer or phone and see ads on YT!

I was running something with sponsor block in the past, whatever app it was that needed that MicroG utility to install/update, but once that stopped working with Chromecast, i quit bothering with that, but I did love it.

I finally got around to remembering to try out Nebula, and I get disappointed because most of the time I forget I have it. Like you, a lot of what I watch is already on YT, and my wife has a grandfathered (for now) premium account which we can share, so I already have ad free YT.

I agree on the discovery too. It feels like I have to work to find something that strikes my fancy if it’s not from someone I’m already familiar with.

Not sure if creators having easier access would make it better, and I like seeing what channels are real creators and not AI, but I find once I find someone I like on Nebula, I just watch them on YT instead. I’d really like to support them, but I’m struggling to feel the added value a bit.

I was able to borrow one from a relative so that was a big help. You should be able to rent one too. If you’re a Halloween fan, it should be right up there with a fog machine. It was really fun and easy to use, and cleanup was a breeze because it isn’t sticky or anything.

The Webcaster gun is amazing and makes low grade props look way better! A bit of a single purpose item, some may say, but I used one all over to throw a killer Halloween party, and my ex built haunted house attractions and used them there.

We watch a ton of Youtube and have had premium for years. Twice now over maybe the last month, we’ve gotten errors stating “account in use at another location” or thereabouts, so we’re waiting for them to cancel the old family plan that lets us share an account with separate profiles.

At that point she’ll probably keep the account and I’ll go the hack route to get sponsorblock, since premium only skips half the ads anyway with everyone doing promos mid video anyway.

The toms get much bigger than owls. The young ones and small hens are sometimes doable for a Great Horn. The owl. Should weigh in around 3.5 pounds and small adult turkey hens are around 5 pounds. The owl will often just take the head.

Owls are also sometimes just that crazy.

Thankfully I’ve only been in the building once so far when a skunk decided to blast us. The skunk baby was usually sweet and easygoing, but he sprayed 3 or 4 times in the clinic in a week.

It turned out the one pair of gloves (the orange ones) would freak it out and it would blast whomever was going to grab it. At least it was so small it barely had any booty juice, but skunk smell indoors is no joke. 🤢

No smallish creature is safe. Foxes, turkeys, bats, fish, scorpions, snakes, other owls. You name it and it’s around owl size or smaller, an owls will eat it.

Skunk spray isn’t great for their eyes though. Here is an owl in with skunk sprayed eyes.

I’m not super in the know about how all this stuff works, but it’s the result of how federation works.

You made your post on feddit, hit send, and then it flows out to every Lemmy host federated with feddit. So once you toss a post out there, it’s now out there in (insert number of federated servers) different copies stored individually on those hosts.

Now you decide to delete. That can be prioritized or handled differently based on the version of Lemmy each host is running.

I got a reply notification saying you replied to one of my comments, but when I clicked the notification, it said you deleted it.

I am even less clear about how deletes are handled, but it’s saved my butt before when I’ve accidentally deleted one of my own posts. There must be some type of buffer time between when a delete request is received and when it is actually purged.

If you hit the reply button on a deleted post, you will sometimes get to read the stored post! I can’t see your deleted comment now, so that’s what makes me think there’s a built in delay, but I obviously could read it fine yesterday to reply to what you said.

You can do it on any deleted comment. I like finding deleted down voted comments and trying this “trick” to see what things people try to hide from the record.

I’m sure I’ve if the instance communities or maybe one of the privacy ones could give you much better details, but this is my for dummies like me version.

If you’re unaware, people can also look who upvotes/downvotes. It’s not available to most people in Lemmy itself, but there’s an online tool that posts the info since it’s technically public, just obscured by the UI.

So a lot of Lemmy falls under the old “once something is on the Internet, it always is” thing. Once you post or vote, it doesn’t always just go poof when you ask the computer to make it go away.

Lol I did think of that, but I still thought most people’s mouths would need a break, and the second that noodle stops moving and trips the gag reflex, all chaos could break loose! That’s potentially a lot of night to have change course on you! 😧

I don’t even think you’d need a special pot. A fresh noodle into enough water you can provide gentle agitation without whacking the noodle excessively, slide it out the pot into a colander, and then again gently slide onto plate. If you want more even saucing, I’d go from colander back into a pot with some sauce on bottom, then pour more sauce over top, and out to plate to get a more even coating without having to pull the noodle through sauce. You could even hand form the noodle with a bit of work. Roll noodle dough into a sheet and make alternating cuts like this and then smooth out the bends.

To me, the real trouble with a long noodle is: then what? Would you slurp a 100 ft noodle in one go, stopping for breaths?

Yup, screw any non-discriminatory animal control. I work at a wildlife rescue and we have to pull birds and all kinds of animals off those things, and it’s just plain cruel to rodents as well.

Oh, I’m not saying all of it is hooey, just after the things you mention, there are rapidly diminishing returns.

I started with just an Aeropress and experimenting with different grocery store coffees. Then I got a Barratza Encore for my birthday. I switched to the OXO dripper pour over and prefer that cleaner taste, and my wife prefers the Aeropress still. She doesn’t notice the difference between grocery coffee and fresh ground, so she usually gets a flavored coffee, and I get a different single origin from Trade every couple weeks.

I probably spend the most of my friend group on coffee, at least home coffee, but I think it’s better than any coffee I get out, and I think the value ratio is still well in my favor for what I get. A coworker seemed interested in my setup and bought it all, but she seemed to like it when I did the work, and even that level of hands on was too much fuss, and her and her husband went back to using a French press without measuring anything.

I find the setup a bit much to do in the morning when I wake up and am all groggy, so I’ve gone to making it before I go to bed into canning jars, and I vacuum seal it so we can either warm it up or have “iced coffee” in the morning, and we think it tastes as good as fresh.

Again, I won’t shame you if you do all that stuff and really enjoy it, but you should be self aware enough to know your level of fanaticism isn’t the norm.

The Tech is my favorite also! I have a couple handles, and the Tech may have been the last one because it seemed liked everyone was always calling it “too mild” or that our clogged too fast because the gap was too small.

It is the smoothest, most gentle, and least fussy handle I’ve got.

I had been so excited to get a Slim Adjustable, the most expensive of my collection, and that thing shreds me on any setting. 😮‍💨

The boar brush was nice when I shaved my whole beard, I liked the sensation, but it is fussy.

That is another great example. I bought a few used razors, but never spent more than $20.on any of them, and I bought a few blade sample packs and swapped a bunch for even more on a forum blade exchange so I probably had at least 40 kinds.

My beard grows every which way, so I shave whichever direction actually gets the hair off, and the blade differences are so miniscule. There were maybe 3 that tore me up for some reason, but the rest I probably couldn’t pick out blind.

So much hocus pocus there about something pretty dead simple. It is somewhat cute to see all the guys talking about soap scents and such, but one static article can easily cover all one ever needs to know about wet shaving.

Ignore all the chit chat and just enjoy cheap shaves.

Heck ya, some solid experimenting to me is way cooler than someone dropping massive cash on something. That’s kiiiinda interesting sometimes to see what’s new and experimental, but I’ll never spend that on it, so there’s limited use to me. But the fart sniffing stuff of overpriced scales and stuff like that, I can live without that type of content completely.
