I don’t think capsaicin is that much of an insecticide. AFAIK its primary purpose is to deter consumption by mammals since the seeds are more likely to survive if eaten by birds (who are immune to capsaicin).

The diagram is not comparing between two standards but between two sizes within the same standard. Philips size 0 (PH0) has a slightly different shape than Philips size 1 (PH1) and up.

Note that according to hardware manufacturer Tekton, the differences are smaller than you think and especially the diagrams are highly misleading as they actually compare PH2 and PH0.

Just about the only major difference is the thread pitch and that is only different in JIS screws if they don’t have the dot.

Speaking as sometime from Central Europe, rain in winter is very much accurate. Typical Christmas weather is light rain at two degrees above freezing. When it does go below freezing in winter it’s usually relatively damp air with no precipitation so there’s no fun snow but a cold that becomes painful within seconds if you don’t have much body fat.

Protip: Change your password in the manager first, then copy from there to the form. Your password manager should handle your passwords for you; there’s no reason why that shouldn’t apply when you first set them.

I generally try to keep to a policy where system passwords and the password manager’s master password are the only passwords I ever enter manually. All other passwords are generated and saved in the manager and then copied over.

Most newer drives won’t give you the kind of direct access you need for an accurate copy. Some disc areas necessary for dealing with copy protection are inaccessible except by specially blessed playback software.

Some older drives ignore this restriction but newer ones, especially all 4K-capable drives, don’t.

There’s an alternative firmware called LibreDrive that enables a low-level access mode where an application has direct control over the laser assembly. That plus ripping software aware of this mode (MakeMKV) will get the data off the disc. Add known decryption keys and you can get at the raw video files.

You do need magic firmware for BluRays.

I don’t think that a plane in flight is likely to have good EMT coverage.

There’s a significant difference between “we’re in an easily reachable party of a major city and I can expect a fully equipped ambulance to be here in minutes” and “we’re in mid-air and even if we make an emergency landing the patient won’t receive medical care for another hour unless I provide it”.

That does make sense when you need absolute precision like when doing abstract math. Otherwise you can just use whichever unit and number of significant digits you need and be precise to that amount. That’s what you do with imperial/American customary units as well; a 5/32" screw isn’t going to be manufactured to the precision of a Planck length; manufacturers specify their sizes to three significant digits of an inch.

Let’s say you have a machining project and your tools are precise to 0.1 mm. So you plan things out at a precision of 0.1 mm. It doesn’t matter that a distance is 17/38 cm exactly. It doesn’t matter that it’s 4.473684210526315789… mm. You can’t set the tool to anything better than 4.5 mm anyway.

Also note that the metric system doesn’t prevent you from using fractions. You’re perfectly free to work with fractions where useful. That’s just not how people talk about lengths because those fractions have no meaning outside your specific use case.

Those planets typically don’t heave a breathable atmosphere, though. You pretty much need a large biosphere if you want to be able to walk around without a spacesuit. An iceball world or a barren rock probably won’t contain a breathable amount of oxygen in an otherwise mostly inert atmosphere. If you want to breathe pure carbon dioxide or get fried by nearly unfiltered UV radiation, though, they’d be great.

Struwwelpeter is a mixed bag.
