Probably a noob question, but I wonder if someone has experience with that. I am looking to buy a TV and I wonder is it makes sense to buy one with decent HDR capabilities, when my plan is to watch pirated movies from my Linux device via HDMI. Is that technically possible? Is it easy?
If it matters, I am on Fedora silverblue.

It does. HDR isn’t really well supported on xorg-based systems. Fedora has Wayland though, which handles HDR better.
This also matters. HDMI 2.1 isn’t supported on amd systems just yet. It doesn’t matter unless you want 144hz at 4k, but it does matter. Linux does a better job of supporting displayport, but tvs don’t usually have displayport inputs.
