If you’re only talking about the download process, and you are downloading at home, then a trustworthy VPN is the (only?) way to go. I’d look into Mullvad or IVPN.
If you are also talking about other processes surrounding downloading, such as registration, creating accounts, communicating with people over the Internet, use fake names ( https://www.scifiideas.com/cyberpunk-name-generator/ ), e-mail aliases ( https://simplelogin.io/ ) and respectable DNS providers ( https://quad9.net/ ).
Mullvad is unfortunately run by fascists so a bad choice if you’re not one.
I think I had heard about that, but what did they do again?
co-founder donated to the sewedsish party Örebro Party
dont know if mulllvad is now bad or not
I switched away from Mullvad because of that. I waited a bit for their response before deciding, but I found their eventual response pretty wishy-washy. Their counter-argument was:
But his personal money still comes from the company, so if I continued to send Mullvad money I’d know it was still indirectly going to the Örebro party, whose leader called immigrants “parasites”, which (as an immigrant myself, albeit not to Sweden) is not acceptable to me.
which vpn do u use now?
I switched over to IVPN, they seem pretty right-on and no scandals that I know of so far.
thanks also hoe do u open the files without them having any chance of interent conention and cant see other files?
thanks for the email recc btw everyone reccomends proton/tuta theyre ok but dont work with tor
I use Tuta because Proton has grown too big for my taste. What do you mean it doesn’t work with Tor? Tor is supposed to be your network layer foundation of your connection and shouldn’t have to do with what applications you run on top of it. And just to clarify: Simple Login is not an e-mail provider. It’s an e-mail alias provider.
If it’s just a media file it should not be able to access anything except for extremely unlikely scenario. If it’s an application like a game it’s different and the solution depends on your OS.
Also tuta and proton work with tor:
thanks the error i was getting on tuta was browser not supported so i thought it woldnt work
protons home page works but log in is “sorry there was an error” or “no connection”
Is this with the tor browser? Are you using the onion service for Proton?
