They claim emulation is illegal… yet they run snes9x on their display case in New York.
I think they mean modern console emu.
That’s why they ignored Dolphin emu but took down Yuzu, for example.
Implying they don’t keep copies of ROMs for their own games?
I would assume it’s obvious they keep their own ROMs… But then Nintendo has been caught multiple times using ROMs from romsites, and the emulators they use are either based on open source emus you can find on the Web, or are literally the exact emus.
I’m not defending them but it makes sense for companies to use open source stuff.
Amazon’s servers are ran almost entirely on Linux.
I have no issue with Nintendo using open source emulators. It’s open source after all. Would be nice if they did like Valve and then also throw the developers a bone.
But we’re talking about Nintendo. They’re using the very resources they demonise and sue people into the ground for. Makes them hypocritics.
There’s been documented cases of them using known pirated versions based on headers and stuff. As crazy as it sounds…
even if they keep extensive archives (how could the gigaleak have happened if not?), i guess it’s still less effort for whoever puts the roms on the service to just yoink a pirated rom from the internet than to go get it themselves lol
