Microsoft is disabling Office 2019 for Mac next month

A certificate issue means Office 2019 for Mac users won’t be able to edit or save documents starting July 13th.

A license verification certificate expires and when it expires, Microsoft Office for Mac assumes it’s unlicensed even if it has been fully paid for.

So, any idiot who paid for Office 2019 for Mac “perpetual” will lose access to it next month.

The same will happen with Office 2021 and Office 2024 in the future.

Pirates are unaffected, only who paid for the product gets punished

    I run a Mac laptop and use open source OnlyOffice. The more open source the better since I don’t have to worry about Apple’s cut provoking developers to charge more subscriptions

      More power to you - but you are a portion of Apple’s userbase that will not receive the same level of support or adoption as the mainstream userbase, and largely not emblematic of the “average MacOS customer”.

      I do agree with your reasoning though (and I’d probably be much more cheerful in helping someone like you compared to the rest of my IT clientele who used Apple products as-is).
