Bad Bunny’s halftime show at the Superbowl ended with him listing all the nations of America (South to North order).

I mean last I checked America was racist as fuck and glorified a felon rapist pedophile by making him their leader.

The United States is just a nation of America. America is two whole continents of peoples. That is the whole point the end of the performance was making. USians aren’t the only “Americans”.

The implication in his performance is that America, as in the U.S., is a conglomerate of peoples from many places, and doesn’t belong to a specific race.

        Good message. I agree.

I’m simply pointing out that, right now, based on America’s voting habits, the reality is that it’s an incredibly racist nation that glorifies felon rapist pedophiles. That is a fact.

The dude didn’t stand in the U.S., during the U.S.'s most popular sporting event, and say “this is America” like it’s a geography lesson to make sure everyone knows America is two continents. He clearly meant “THIS” as in “the United States”. As in “hey look, the U.S. is a mix of races and that’s what makes it strong”.

Again. I agree. Unfortunately, the majority of voting Americans (United Statesians?) in 2024 did not. Factually.

I think you might still be missing the point. “America” does not hold elections. “America” is a set of two continents (North and South America). The United States of America is 1 nation on the continent of North America. So when people talk about the USA and refer to it as “America”, it’s kind of like if people talking about the UK referred to it as “Europe”.

The whole point of it was to criticize how USA-centric USians are by completely discounting that they are 1 country of many on the American continents. This is so much the case that it seems to confuse some people who think that “America” and “The United States of America” are synonyms.

edit: err, maybe you do get it? I can’t tell. I didn’t get much “melting pot” from it and thought it was more a celebration of Puerto Rico with a little bit of "get over yourselves mainland US. The rest of the Americas are pretty sick too in their unique ways

I haven’t watched it, but based on comments here, didn’t they mention countries from América? In Spanish that includes everything from Argentina and Chile all the way up to Canada. So the context of it being América rather than the US would be very transparent from my perspective.
