I guess media literacy is when you think those are the only two options.
Both bad.
Edit:
For the downvoters:
:^)I don’t think they approve of billionaire run western corporate media either.
nice try Ruzzian bot. RT is absolutely worse than the american news companies
I can’t detect if ironic or whisu
Everything I don’t like must be a bot!

Don’t get second opinion syndrome. Just because the “good guys” are actually bad, doesn’t mean the “bad guys” aren’t also bad.
Western liberals continue to get their politics from children’s fiction
Good guys and bad guys don’t exist in real life though, because real life has no screenwriter. Better to learn the perspective of all parties and cross-reference them like an investigator
Whoops lol just noticed your quotation marks, seems like you probably roughly agree
Indeed, I mean “good guys” and “bad guys” in the usual narrative !
This kinda post is also stuck in a sort of a false dichotomy where you have to choose between the US or Russia. Why ?
I’ll stick to Europe, personally, although I’m aware there’s lots of sucky stuff here as well.
Europe is essentially the vassals of the US Empire, so any pro-European stance is almost always in the context of perpetuating imperialism or trying to gain more leverage to no longer be vassals of empire. It’s impirtant to recognize that, in a conflict between Russia and the US Empire, the US Empire winning continues to fuel imperialism, while Russia winning results in a dramatically changed geopolitical field. In the context of bringing about socialism globally, the US Empire is by far the largest obstacle.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not “pro-Europe” by any means. But I live here, and it’s generally quite nice for me.
I don’t feel obligated to pick sides in this conflict, I have no delusions of having any influence on it. Whomever wins, wins, and we’ll deal with that if and when it happens.
That’s more a stance of intentional blindness, though, which as a strategy means you’ll never advance meaningful positive change. And Europe is fairly nice to live in for many people, precisely because Europe benefits from imperialism.
Good guys and bad guys definitely exist. Most who seek power are bad guys though.
I am able to read and think critically. How can you understand anything if you don’t read it and apply critical thinking to it? If you just read one side of media you are missing part of the picture.
I also don’t live where you do. I don’t think Russia is any worse than the US or Europe.
Reading two different lies doesn’t make you any more informed, though. You don’t have to participate in this charade at all.
I don’t assume that Russians are lying more or less than Americans or Europeans. You believe this because you lack the ability to think critically and hate Russians because your government told you.
Enablers are bad, yes, but invading aggressors are worse.
Your comment reads like “both sides” Russian propaganda.
Imagine believing western imperialists aren’t invading aggressors. Tell me you live in the imperial core without telling me you live in the imperial core.
And BBC, that’s not state media though according to the arbiter of truth youtube
In fact, suggesting that the BBC is anything other than upstanding will land you on the shitlibs’ list of “extremism”.
“The BBC is not a credible news source” - https://lemmy.world/post/35824465 [1]
Did labour conservatives ever remove or undo what tory conservatives did to the BBC to make it more like fox News/news Corp media?
Nope, and they made them even more zionist
;)
Billionaire mouthpieces are all the same even if you believe they are different.
Fuck Russia and all its bullshit propaganda. Gtfo with this insane straw man no true Scotsmen begging the question super combo of logical fallacy.
This is some fucking dumb shit right hyuh.
The People are the Power. The rich are gonna learn it too late.
libs under OP’s post lying through their teeth implying that they equally apply critical thinking (if any) between bougie media outlets rather than just viscerally rejecting one that isn’t Western enough to their liking.
Cut the shit, you libs don’t actually believe that they’re “all the same”.
Fuck Russia and all its bullshit propaganda. Gtfo with this insane straw man no true Scotsmen begging the question super combo of logical fallacy.
Fallacy fallacy.
Also none of your fallacies apply lol. A meme representing a pretty common occurrence isn’t strawmanning, unless any representation of any persons opinion is a strawman, which would make the concept entirely meaningless. I don’t even get how you get the two others except by being a bot that exists to deploy thought terminating clichés.
Go back to Reddit where these trite regurgitations earn you le gold instead of derision. Or go back to the server farm in Langley.Go back to reddit
straw man no true Scotsmen begging the question super combo of logical fallacy.
This is like the exact opposite of magic words of power. Magic words of impotence
The only fucking dumb shit is this comment you left in my inbox. I don’t think you understood the meme at all.
;)
You see, I pissed my pants on purpose, which means you’re owned for thinking I’m nasty for pissing my pants
How do those logical fallacies apply here? I’m confused.
Billionaire mouthpieces are all the same even if you believe they are different.
That’s kind of what this meme is saying.
Sometimes I go to .world to see what the state media dislikers are reading, and it’s kyivpost, kyiv independent, pravda ua…
RT News: Russia is good and Ukraine is evil.
Bloomberg: The rich deserve all of your money and human rights.
The words of RT news are entirely untrustworthy when it comes to the issues the Russian state cares about, and if it’s entirely irrelevant to the Russian state then one ought to question why Russian state media is talking about it. May as well listen to the words straight from Putin’s mouth.
Have you ever heard of critical thinking and deriving understanding from words using lenses?
imagine approving of any media
I approve of CD-ROM
The words “billionaire run” imply that Russian state media is not run by billionaires.
True, it would ideally be “local bourgeoisie vs international bourgeoisie” but I worry that would make the meme less comprehensible to non-marxists
I don’t think you understood the meme at all. It is someone pearl clutching about RT, namely people like yourself on lemmy.world on c/worldnews while not understanding it is the same bullshit they are currently reading. I never said RT wasn’t, in fact I’m implying they’re the same.
Same shit, or not? Wait, how many eastern journalist were killed for investigating oligarchs? Probably some.
And how about russia?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_journalists_killed_in_Russia
Gary Webb Panama Papers Chelsea Manning Julian Assange Edward Snowden Craig Spence
You’ll get them booted off the internet and their entire family sent to reeducation camps!!!
The real answer is that we’ll never know because they “kill themselves” or have “accidents” and it doesn’t go on CIApedia as a journalist murder. Just like the Boeing whistleblowers and the original leaders of Black Lives Matter.
Post-Soviet Russia has absolutely had an organized crime problem. The violence journalists face there strikes me as more reason to celebrate their work rather than censor it.
Yeah, but they also hype nuclear war and tell everyone how cool it would be to bomb every major city in Europe. Its a pick your propaganda.
Waow
Do they?
